Tampon Mountain

Just before Christmas, a good friend shared an article on Facebook which looked at the issue of period poverty and asked friends to support a collection of tampons and sanitary pads to donate to her local food bank.

Immediately, I realised that I had never considered donating these items before and had really only thought about food for food banks. It turns out I was not alone.

Last night I attended my first event with Girl Geeks Scotland, a group I've admired for a long time now but was never quite certain if I was geeky enough to join in with! Having been reassured and encouraged to come along by founder and friend, Morna Simpson, and other actual proper Girl Geeks I met at their relaunch this time last year I decided to go along....and I'm glad I did!

Birthday celebrations and mother’s advice

This weekend I celebrated my big 4-0. An event that a year or two ago I was dreading and could not contemplate feeling good about.

It wasn’t so much about getting older, it was simply because I wasn’t happy being me or where I was in life. Not much has actually changed in my life/job/home etc but how I see myself and feel about being me has changed massively and this weekend was one of the happiest times I’ve ever had.
